PRODUCER'S NOTE

Welcome to our second year of theater here at Livingston College and Rutgers University. We are very excited to be opening our 1999-2000 season with the world's longest running musical-The Fantasticks, which has broken all sorts of records during its long run. Some of its accomplishments include being the most frequently produced show by both professionals and amateurs, having over 11,000 productions in the United States and over 700 productions world wide in a multitude of translations. The show has also had a myriad of celebrities taking on roles all over the country. I believe the shows accomplishments and longevity is due to the wonderful writing of the piece. The fact that the show is timeless, and it speaks of life and humanity in a way which we, the audience can connect to, makes it a very extraordinary7 piece. The memorable story and songs don't hurt the show either.

We here at The Livingston Theatre Company are very pleased to present this wonderful, heartfelt musical to open our first full year.

Speaking of this season, I would tike to suggest coming back for all of our shows, each one promises to be more invigorating than the next. We are currently working very hard on our upcoming production of Nunsense. If you're not familiar with the show, it is a zany musical comedy about five sisters putting on a benefit to raise money to bury some nuns who were poisoned by some stew while the five were away. It is laugh after laugh, with a bright and bouncy score, and is a great entertainment for all. The show plays November 18-21. Tickets will be on sale shortly. This is not one to miss. Then we will be doing the folk/ rock musical Godspel! in April which is sure to be a blast. But you're here for The Fantasticks, so
